GreatGuys Celebrate Their Anniversary with “RECORD OF YOUTH”

Unlike many idol groups, GreatGuys’ members have a direct hand in the creation of their music as heard in their new mini-album “RECORD OF YOUTH”. DNA Entertainment

SIX YEARS AFTER their debut, GreatGuys, an eight member idol group under DNA Entertainment, return with the new mini-album “RECORD OF YOUTH EP. 1: DESTINY”.

GreatGuys’ fifth mini-album is a significant one as it is the first time the boys have looked back on their career and time together. “RECORD OF YOUTH” is now available for pre-order and will be released on June 18, 2023 at noon KST (June 17, 2023; 11PM EST).

GreatGuys is composed of eight talented members Horyeong, Haneul, Daun, Donghwi, Dongin, Hwalchan, Uiyeon, Baekgyeol. Unlike many idol groups, GreatGuys’ members have a direct hand in the creation of their music. Dongin was given his first opportunity to produce and write music for the group with “Blind Love” in 2022. “These are my favorite songs,” he told K-Pop Wise, “because it’s my first time producing the entire song.”

Dongin wrote and composed both the title track “luv luv luv” in collaboration with NUVO and the album’s b-side “only U” in collaboration with HOZE. “Only U” is notably a special track dedicated to the group’s supportive fanbase Grace. Member Hanuel also participated in the creative direction of “RECORD FOR YOUTH” by creating the choreography for “luv luv luv”. Fans will have their first chance to see the boys’ work when the music video is released on June 18.

While GreatGuys’ are still working to gain momentum and popularity, they should be commended for their creative work. You can count on the members to commit to creating a cinematic event for each comeback, and they’ve only improved with each release. In 2022 the group released “Blind Love”, which featured two strikingly different concepts. In the music video, the members impressively portrayed both bodyguards and vampires. This comes from a company and group who share a desire to push themselves with each comeback.

GreatGuys have stayed busy since the release of “Blind Love”. They recently completed a tour in Japan, bringing sophistication and some impressively synchronized choreography to new fans, and are active on their YouTube channel where they frequently upload vlogs. The group is only gaining in popularity on streaming services, too, where they have combined streams of over 1 million on Spotify.

As they enter into their sixth year together, GreatGuys are eager to look back and return the love they’ve received from their fanbase, who they call Grace.

“Grace has been supporting and loving us since debut, so we were able to promote without giving up until now. To repay Grace’s support, we will always work hard and show you great performances, anytime, anywhere,” the guys told K-Pop Wise in the same interview. “It’s a driving force for us to continue our activities without giving up.”

“RECORD OF YOUTH EP. 1: DESTINY” is now available for pre-order from retailers including: WITHMUU, which is offering a Fan Sign and Video Call Event; Aladdin; KTOWN4U; and Yes24, amongst others.
